Erik Carriere

A thread for the amazing and lovable Charles Dance Erik. I just want to snuggle him, don't you? Him and his adorable hat.

I really love this version, and I think it it mainly due to this Erik's sheer awesomeness and adorability. Charles Dance is an amazing actor in general, and he really brings a lot of sweetness and humanity to the role of Erik.

But when he gets mad, it's scary. He reminds me of a hurt animal or a child throwing a fit: you just can't tell where the forte he's going with it or what he's about to do. So he's not all gentlemanly snuggley fluff; there are more layers to his character than that.

What are y'all's thoughts?

I think... and please don't hate me for it... Erik Carriere is what Raoul should be. Sweet, innocent and just a darling. Yeston & Kopit just put Raoul and Erik in one Character and made Philippe the "other dude".
Charles Dance did a lovely job and THEY ARE SINGING FAUST TOGETHER ON STAGE!!!! ERIK GETS APPLAUSE FOR HIS VOICE!!!! AHHHH!

Yeah, I can see that. I did not particularly care for Philippe. He reminds me far too much of people I know.

OH MY GOSH I KNOW. THE FINALE IS AMAZING. <3

I really like this version. In fact, I think it's the best version out there but that's just me.

I doubt it's just you. A whole lot of people really like this version, but I personally just can't pick a favorite.

I love this Erik. I think he's great. But I agree, that Philippe is just kinda weird. It makes it easy to not want Christine with him. Whereas Raoul, you're supposed to at least feel a little sorry for since the poor creature just doesn't understand, hahaha.

But I do love this Erik...
