... Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for a true adaptation of the original Leroux novel coming to modern movies/tv, but... this director makes my feet itch. If they turn Erik into another misunderstood emo hunk, I'm going to rip out all my hair and jump off the Twinky factory's roof.
I WANT A REAL LEROUX PHANTOM SO BAD!! Including the Persian in his proper role, and Mme Giry in her PROPER role, and a blond Swedish Christine, and an old, crazy, death's head Erik, and a foolish, crybaby Raoul! Also, I want to see the scene with the managers and the paperclip! That was hilarious in the book, but I've never seen it brought to the screen!
If Erik sparkles... AHH!! There will be blood! >.<

But don't give us another super cool, pretty boy Erik! He's god damn UGLY!!!

Lon Chaney + original ending + the graveyard scene they had to remove... and please make the Daroga more like the original and not some detective out to hunt Erik down. It always irked me that no one got the Daroga-Erik relationship quite right. OH! And I'd love to actually see the scene when Erik goes to the Daroga's house to tell him he's dying OF LOVE. XD In my opinion, Lon Chaney was the best Erik. He seemed to really get inside Erik's head and try to understand the character, and it shows. I love all his subtle gestures and body language! SQUEE!

Imagine this: Leroux's Erik vs the sparkling vampires. Obviously, Erik wins u_____u How can someone compare genius, talent and a loyal skull cane which throws fireballs with a little bit of sparkle?! Anyway, where the hell is Steven Spielberg? I read he had intention to produce or direct a phantom movie!

Sigh.... Please world of cinema don't disappoint me again... Don't hope. Unless we do it ourselfs, therer will never be an accurate Phantom movie. Even Portrait of a Living corpse isn't really accurate...

I wouldn't discount it so soon. Universal has a history of making FANTASTIC Phantom films, and I doubt they'll stop now.
Realistically now, people, the director won't make Erik sparkle. You cannot blame the director of a film for flaws inherent in the source material, and one must remember that the "Twilight" movies actually followed the books REALLY CLOSELY, which is quite promising considering how badly a lot of people want a TRUE TO LEROUX adaptation.
And I like "Erik: Portrait of a Living Corpse." No, it isn't 100% Leroux faithful, but it's a really great movie overall, and I seriously cannot wait for Part II to come out.

I don't really think the director would make Erik sparkle, I'm just concerned at them continuing the trend set by all the recent antihero/Byronic hero movies and make him too sexy in the wrong ways. Kinda catering more towards making profits off doe-eyed teens. Basically, even if they follow the book word for word in every other sense, but then make Erik 30, with the body of a sex idol and an easily over-lookable facial scar it would ruin everything.

I know, right? If you want someone to be mad, bad, and dangerous to know, then you should ACTUALLY MAKE THEM mad, bad, and dangerous to know.

Why was Erik hiding out in the first place? Because of a little scar? That's why his mother hated him? That's why he was a freak? That's why you need to see the beauty within? No. I don't think so. It makes no sense if they do it that way. It's just not logical in anyway and takes away the most important parts of the story.

Actually, I'd want to see a movie that's like the book. a mystery. Not a romantic movie. Not beauty and the beast or something, but "creepy, dark, ugly cellar dude threatens beautiful girl and her not yet boyfriend"
I want a remake of the Lon Chaney film >.<
