Do you remember the weird guy who sang at the 25th anniversary next to Anthony Warlow, Colm Wilkinson and John Owen-Jones? Well, since the 19th of March he's playing the phantom in London. Some people say he's Michael Crawford reincarnation. m.youtube.com/watch?v=WcSmqZfu_0w <--- here you can find "the music of the night" sung by him. Actually, I don't dislike him.

He sounds a lot like Crawford. Take that as you will. Personally, I'm not a huge Crawford fan to begin with so I'm indifferent. I'm one of those really annoying Leroux-loyalists who keeps hearkening back to the book, even when trying to talk about the ALW show. The only Phantom I've heard so far that sounds anything like what I imagine by Leroux's description is Ben Lewis, who's in the Melbourne cast of Love Never Dies... unfortunately. Damn you, LND!
But yeah, in the book it talks about Erik's booming baritone, and soft angelic tenor (most likely falsetto). Not creepy pedobear full-tenor. (Seriously, no offense, but that's really the vibe I get from watching Crawford as the Phantom. I'm sorry.)
So.. I guess I can agree that I don't dislike him, too! ^.^

He sounds like a weasel and not at all like Crawford in my opinion. I was horrified by him at the end of the 25th anniversary show.
I don't hate his voice, I just think he is not at all Phantom quality. But he'd be really good for a sleazy bad guy role.

He actually got a lot better than the 25th Anniversary performance. But then again I suppose it was difficult for him to sing against the powerhouses of Anthony Warlow, Ramin Karimloo and Colm Wilkinson. He does have a bit of a Michael Crawford tone to his voice but there's something missing that Michael Crawford has and Peter Joback doesn't...I'm not quite sure what that is... I think maybe it's that there is a depth to Crawford's voice that Joback isn't...quite old enough to have? I don't know. Something.

Well, when I get home I'll give him another listen. I can't even imagine where the Crawford is supposedly coming from because I listened to a few other things by him and I still only hear weasel. Of course I am very partial to Michael Crawford, but I can put that aside to try and hear the similarities.

Very very lite...haha But again, something is missing from his voice that Michael Crawford has...maybe acting skills...haha

Or it's just my impression?

Exactly! Crawford has a depth to his voice that gives chills in my opinion. Maybe the similarity is that they're both obviously tenors whereas some other Phantoms it's a little more difficult to tell?

Maybe the similarity is that they're both obviously tenors whereas some other Phantoms it's a little more difficult to tell? I think the similarity is due to the sweetness of their voices. Jobsck's voice is childish and sweet, Crawford's voice has become sweeter in the last years...
