So there was a Yahoo! news article about this (if you could even call it an article). A lot of the commentors acted as though a man wearing an engagement ring was an abomination of his masculinity. I think that's the stupidest thing I've heard. I mean he wears a wedding ring, right? I dunno, maybe it's the German in me where they've been giving both partners a ring to wear for years upon engagement, then switching that ring to the other hand when married that I don't see this as a big deal.
So, I suppose my questions are, why do American men think of wearing an engagement ring to be something not manly. And possibly, more important, who the heck thought "man-gagement ring" was going to be a better term than "man's engagement ring?"
Thoughts?

Hmm, I actually think a man's engagement ring would be great. I mean why is it only the woman who wears the ring to signify that she's "taken"? The man should also have some sort of sign that he's taken as well...
Although the word man-gagement is...not very conducive to having men want to wear a ring....hahaha.

Yeah... The women that come up with these terms (though I could be very wrong in thinking it was a woman) are notnhelping their case for trying to get their boys to wear an engagement ring...
However, two of the guys I worked with wore an engagement ring and they never had issue with it.

Honestly if we're going to call it something silly let's call it a mengagement ring and not a mangagement ring because mangagement looks like management and at least with mengagement it's punny.

I think it should be called a Finger Hula Hoop.
