Has anyone ever heard/seen this? Aside from the Charles Dance adaptation, I mean, I have what i ordered thinking it was an actual book but it was just the script, and I must say it was kinda cheesy. But then lyrics often can be...

Well, I recently found a recording of it on youtube. And I have seen the Japanese Takarazuka versions from 2004 and 2006 (2004 being my favourite).
I really like it. It's not really true to the book, but I like how Erik is portrait. So sweet and caring towards Christine all of that. And there are also many wonderfull song, like my true love and Hear my tragic tale.

I would like to see the play. In English if at all possible. Though, I can never seem to find a place that's running the production.

I have the soundtrack, though I've yet to watch the play on YouTube. I REALLY like Richard White as Erik, even though he's a baritone and Erik is typically a tenor. White's voice is just very rich and resonant and powerful. (Plus, he played Gaston in Beauty and the Beast...oh the IRONY.) That aside, some of the songs are just ridiculously bad. So bad, they're good. "Oh, Christine I'm in love with youuuu!" comes to mind...actually, Philippe is a repeat offender on the original soundtrack. The guy that's playing him does the WORST French accent I've ever heard. But I can't help but love it.

Oh, also, Carlotta is hilarious. I'm telling you, there is no such thing as too outrageous for this character (except in the David Staller version, which was all kinds of stinky).
