Now we all know that us phans are very picky about our beloved Erik. Now, Muirin007 pointed out someone I think would make a really great Erik if someone was to ever do an adaption of Susan Kay's Phantom. Richard E. Grant. Now he looks the part. Though I don't know much about him, he does look like he could pull off the role just fine.
So what do you all think? Who would make a great Erik?
Yes, Gerard did an... interesting job in his role. But I'm talking mostly Kay's Erik. We can discuss any other possibility as well.

I must say that I'd really prefere an animated movie, if there would really be one, for I think it would be the only real way to make Erik as... hideous as he is. I saw moviemakers fail at making Voldemort as terrible as he should be and so... well, like I posted somewhere here before: A stop-motion movie by Tim Burton, that's what I'd have if I could make a wish.
Richard E. Grant could do a fine voice acting part I'm sure.

Not to sound like a dork here, but how about Johnny Depp? He has a pretty good singing voice, as we saw in "Sweeney Todd," and he's a great actor, so he could capture both Erik's violent, unhinged side as well as the part of him that just wants to be loved. He's got the build (those hands!) and he'd probably be willing. I would love to see a classic-Disney style animated version as well.  |

(Because he's so good-looking...haha) His facial structure would be able to handle the angularity of Erik's face though because he has such high cheekbones so maybe it would be okay. I don't know if his voice is what I thought Erik's voice should be though. But then again I don't really focus on his voice...whenever I see him in a movie, I always focus on what he looks like...so maybe I don't remember what he sounds like...haha |

I have no doupt in his acting and if the makeup is good... but I can't imagine Erik breaking into scottish accent once in a while. We'll leave the accentchanges to Phillipe, won't we?
