Hey all! So they're gonna be making an adaptation of the MUSICAL version of Les Mis!! Here's the link to the IMDB site: www.imdb.com/title/tt1707386/What do you think of the casting so far? They unfortunately haven't been picking Broadway/West End stars for the movie...I would have loved to see Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean again, his voice is amazing. I don't know I feel about Hugh Jackman as Valjean and Russell Crowe as Javert. You know, I never knew Russell Crowe could sing...? I know Hugh Jackman can but can he really hit those notes in "Bring Him Home"? Anne Hathaway as Fantine...I can kinda see that. She has a pretty good voice for an actress. Eddie Redmayne as Marius...eh...I don't know...hopefully he can sing better than Nick Jonas? Aaron Tveit as Enjrolas?? ...Whut? I think they really should have cast Ramin...I mean I'm not the biggest fan of Ramin's Phantom but I KNOW he is an amazing Enjrolas. He really has the voice for him. I heard Aaron Tveit sing...and it's not like Ramin. So we'll see... Helen Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier. She is flawless. Haha. Although the lady who plays her in the 10th and 25th Anniversary Concert is amazing and I think they should have cast her but I guess she doesn't have enough "star power". (Or is too old?) Sacha Baron Cohen as Monsieur Thenardier. There's a rumor that Geoffrey Rush was gonna play this part. I wish they had cast him instead. I love Geoffrey Rush and I think he could play that part as it was intended. But I guess we'll see for him too. Tom Hooper as director. Hopefully he'll be good. I saw The King's Speech and loved it...so hopefully he doesn't screw this up as bad as Joel Schumacher did for PotO.

I'm so excited! I regularly sing Les Mis lines at work because it bothers my coworkers!!
I just heard about this, but I didn't even get this much information. I think Hugh Jackman and Russel Crow should switch parts personally, but other than that I'm super excited! I just hope Enjrolas is good. And do we know who will be playing Epoine?
And I hate to say this because I don't want to jynx anything, but... it would be hard to be worse than Joel Schummacher. I mean, the man ruined the Phantom and Batman...

I sing it all the time as well...not so much at work because my coworkers could give me the evil eye but...at home. All the time. I can see Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe switching parts too actually. Oh man...that would actually be better. But again, can Russell Crowe sing? I don't know if Enjrolas is gonna be any good. Check out Aaron Tveit on youtube. He played Fiyero for a bit in Wicked but I didn't really think his voice was THAT great. I seriously wish they got Ramin for this role. I saw Ramin in the 25th Anniversary concert and I was like OH MAN He IS Enjrolas. Blegh casting people, blegh. They haven't listed Eponine yet...I'm really interested in who they're gonna get. I know Lea Michele auditioned for it but...I don't know if they picked her? I think her voice is pretty good. But again...I have no idea if they're gonna pick her. Hahaha that is true and Tom Hooper did The King's Speech and was nominated for an Oscar and all that. He did The King's Speech really well. Joel Schumacher's never been nominated for anything...except maybe a Razzie award. How do you screw up Batman? HOW? D: (Although I think M. Night Shymalan...er...Shamalyan...Shama...er...however you spell his last name is worse...)

At least the design department can't mess up much in this. The casting sounds okay to me but... Why are they so reluctant to cast broadway singers? Why must it always be stars?

Yeah...I'm gonna see it even if the cast is bad...just for the setting and the clothing and hopefully...the music and the atmosphere. Yeah... Eh...I am very suspicious of the casting. I don't know if half of them can sing...that well. And Les Miserables is such a tough libretto (not as tough as Opera but as far as Musicals go, it's one of the tougher ones). I hope they don't do that whole "speaking instead of singing" thing that PotO did. Yeah really right? I mean Broadway people don't always act big and overly dramatic. They can be subtle too! And they have a pretty wide fanbase. But I don't think the Broadway actors have the "star pull" that the movies need...or so the production studios think.

I wish I could answer this truthfully, but I have no clue. Those people DO know how to act. Yes, the acting is different, but there's a thing to be said about a broadway actor. They have ONE take to make you believe them, just one chance. Movie stars can go back until they get it right. So I would think the stage actors would almost be more appealing...

SQUEEEEEEEE!!! ;D I'm SO excited about this! For my part, I am glad with the majority of the cast so far, although I'm not that familiar with with the guys who are playing Marius and Enjolras... I just hope Marius sounds better than Nick Jonas. >_<
A shame about Thenardier though - I was hoping it would be Geoffrey Rush would get the role. Just imagine, him along with Russel Crowe and Hugh Jackman... it would have been awesome, having three great Aussie actors!
...or maybe I'm just biased because I'm Australian...XD
And Tom Hooper is DA BOMB!!! He's the perfect choice for director, in my opinion. The King's Speech was such a beautiful film, and I have a feeling that Hooper won't go all over the top with the design (Joel Schumacher, I'm looking at you!), but will mainly focus on the emotions of the story, because that's the main thing the audience wants to see, right?

Yeah...Nick Jonas...was...not the best. He was better than I thought he would be actually considering I thought he couldn't sing at all really so anything better than his "pop voice" is good. But his acting...I thought he was constipated the whole time. I love love LOVE Geoffrey Rush. You know, he played Inspector Javert against Liam Neeson's Valjean from the old movie. I think he would have been a great Thenardier! So I'm kinda bummed about that still. Yeah Tom Hooper is great. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie because of him.

Heh, LOL at Nick Jonas looking constipated! I was thinking the same thing! XD I guess also the problem was that the actors in the concert were so restricted because they had to stay in front of their mics all the time. If they had done a real performance, rather than just a concert, then maybe we could have been spared Jonas's constipatedness...

There's a rumor going around that Taylor Swift was offered the role of Eponine...
All I have to say to that is: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I really hope that's not true....nothing against Taylor Swift but I seriously don't think she'll be able to pull it off. Hopefully she makes me eat my words...but seriously...no.
