For me, "Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus" is a close second to "The Phantom of the Opera." It's an equally moving story, not so much of unrequited love as of unrequited humanity, and if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. Here I'd like to discuss the Creature whom Victor Frankenstein creates, in all aspects of all portrayals. GO!

He's just getting what's coming to him, really! If he had cared for what he created, NONE of those things would have happened. Really, if you create something, you have to take responsibility for it. Otherwise, everything goes nuts!

For the first part of the book, Victor seems like a pretty cool guy, but then he's just a whiny prick. I ADORE the Creature, though. His story is just so sad!

I always took the message as: "Just because you can doesn't mean you should, but if you do, DO IT RIGHT!" The creature was his... his child of some kind. Speaking the bible way: It's like God making Adam and then going like... "Okay, I'm done here. Ewww, what did I do? It's digusting and evil and... I won't bother. Oh, look what nice weather we're having today..." The creature... i pity him so... only wanted love... Wanted to be good. They forced him to be evil.

"If I am a monster, it is because man's hatred has made me so." describes him perfectly, I think. Who, if anyone, do you think was his love interest? A lot of people tend to ship him with either Justine or Elizabeth, (I've even seen some Victor/Creature slash o.O), but I actually think he had some feelings for Agatha, the cottage girl. He repeatedly refers to her as "sweet," but maybe it was more of a brother sister thing?

He came across as if he was saving the little love he could feel for the woman Victor would have to make for him... But he sure had tender feelings for Agatha. EWWWW!!! Creature/Victor is bad enough... but the other way around?? EWWWWW!!!

I guess the transitive property of equality doesn't apply to fractions, herp derp. Either way, it was... alarming, to say the least. Just... WHY? I think you may be right in regards to him saving his love, but since Agatha was before he thought himself a monster, would she fall under a different category?

Some stories do not work wh any other pairing than those which are already IN the story... and you cannot really pair the creature with anyone (exept HIS woman, but Viktor goes all I-rip-you-apart-before-I-am-done-with-you with her...)
It's worse than with Erik... poor creature, doesn't even have a name... maybe... Frank? Frank N. Stein (<-stupid joke from some movie I saw once)
