I had to create this thread in honor of my friend that watched the miniseries with me and was in love with Philippe's hair on a totally comical level. That dude had more volume in his hair than all the girls I think...
That point aside, what do you think about the story and the author's choice to use Philippe instead of Raoul? I remember when I first watched it I kept thinking, Who the heck is this Philippe guy? Belle's horse? Then when I finally realized who he was supposed to be after reading The Novel, I was seriously confused why they made him Christine's love interest. I still can't say it makes much sense to me and I find the character to be somewhat bratish.
What say you?

I wish they WOULD HAVE cast Belle's horse. That would have been infinitely more enjoyable. I can't stand Philippe. This isn't because he's the Raoul character, not at all. I just don't like the character (or the acting). The guy never once seems sincere, and when he talks about how he's "changed," I feel like he's crossing his fingers behind his back. The way he delivers his lines is just icky. Kind of syrupy sweet and just...insincere. I absolutely love this miniseries, with the exception of Philippe. I miss our sweet Raoul.  Ickiness aside, he DID have some pretty killer hair. I was totally jealous. You know something? Every single person in that miniseries has great hair: Philippe, Christine, Gerard, Carlotta. Even Erik! Talk about fluffy and voluminous. |

I finally got to see some clips of this version and he does have very bouncy hair. I think his hair is the best thing about him....

Seriously! My hair only gets annoyingly fluffy...
Anyway, yes I disliked him as well. It really irked me that his accent kept changing. What's up with that? Are you French, English or American?? Make up your mind!!
