So, I have both CD and DVD and it. Is. MARVELOUS! I was a little bit perplexed when ALW decided to cast Ramin and Sierra as Erik and Christine. First of all, I thought JOJ is so much better than Ramin; I wasn't very excited about Sierra, 'cause I saw a video of hers singing "PotO" at the Olivier Awards with JOJ and her Christine looked DEAD But the concert was unbelievable! Ramin improved very much! I daresay he is JOJ's thin version! His "Music of the Night" was very difficult for me to listen, 'cause it is full of sweetness, happiness, excitement and lust but even desperation and pain. He broke my heart many times. Sierra Boggess was delightful! Her Christine is lovely and scared, but even strong and innocent! Hadley Fraser as Raoul: his version is very arrogant, but he tries to guard, to guide and to protect Christine, and he's a French noble man of 19th century, so... I loved André and Firmin, they were so funny! And Madame Giry, Carlotta, Piangi and Meg weren't bad! What do you think about?

EEEEEE!!! ;D You're so lucky to have the CD and the DVD! I can't wait til I get my hands on one or the other! XD Ramin is one of my most favourite Phantoms. His singing isn't as brilliant and bright as JOJ's and Anthony Warlow's (although maybe I'm just biased because Warlow is Australian, and so am I. XD), but the raw emotion he shows totally makes up for that. I haven't seen him perform live, I only rely on Youtube clips, but from the stuff I've seen of him from the 25th anniversary he was brilliant, to say the least. And Sierra is just MAGICAL as Christine! Again, I haven't seen the entire 25th anniversay, and I've only seen a few clips of her as Christine on Youtube, but the emotion she throws into her acting is amazing! She actually gives Christine a bit of a backbone, which is always good to see, at the same time appearing absolutely terrified of the Phantom, which is completely understandable. And her singing is marvellous! I heard a recording of her singing WYWSHA at the 25th anniversary, and WOW that was amazing! There was so much heartbreak in her voice, but she still sounded absolutely beautiful, and the big finish at the end of the song just sent chills down my spine! Overall, from what I've seen, it was an amazing performance, although I was a little disappointed when Iheard that the chandalier didn't fall, but just swayed around and set of a few pretty sparkles...

I just got my DVD today and watched it the moment I got it out of the box.
I loved Ramin as the Phantom, and I love Sierra's singing in the beginning, but when she starts yelling more towards the end, it goes a little down-hill. I think she could have acted upset without tearing apart her lines. Love her backbone though!
Raoul.. I didn't like so much. He's not the sweet, naive Raoul I'm used to. And, why isn't he a tenor? It seemed to me like they were purposely trying to darken him up for his role in LND, which I believe to be unnecessary as 10 years can turn a naive, sheltered boy into a broken man.
In the minor roles, I particularly liked Carlotta, and that weird old guy who plays the husband in the Il Muto opera. He was hilarious, and reminded me of a Cirque du Soleil, Alegria character.

About Raoul...Hadley Fraser. What can I say about this guy? I like his voice, he's fresh and handsome, so a perfect Raoul...But why arrogant? I often wondered about this, and as you I thought "They're trying to dark him to justify LND!" But then I thought "Hey, he's just trying to protect Christine from a naughty stalker who kipnapped her and led her in world of darkness About Ramin...I didn't expect his evolution! He's so much better than his former Phantom! His acting is always very passional and emotional, but HIS VOICE CHANGED!"The Music of the Night" was...was....I can't describe. It's clearer, sweeter, better. Maybe he took lessons from a great teacher? ;D Oh, when he sang "Masquerade" in the Final Lair...I wept for 30 minutes. Sierra...I liked her. She was another surprise. After seeing this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2Aysczt1QA I didn't think she was that good (JOJ is perfect, as always). But her voice, her acting, her thirsty of life completely changed my mind! The managers....They're wonderful as always XD Another thing: Don't you like when Ramin sings "I'm here, the Phantom of the Opera.." and then "Seal my fate tonight..." etceteras? EEEEEE!!! ;D You're so lucky to have the CD and the DVD! I can't wait til I get my hands on one or the other! XD Ramin is one of my most favourite Phantoms. Be prepared for the greatest moment of your life when you'll see that DVD! About the chandelier...I wasn't disappointed. It didn't raise to the roof either at the beginning, it's just covered and when the "Overture" begins. the cover raises to show the chandelier. But we can't claim the chandelier falls! The Royal Albert Hall is a concert hall, not a theatre, so they haven't the same mechanisms to make fall the chandelier ;D

On Raoul, on the original london cast recording I have always found him arrogant. I have only seen one Raoul I would say is sweet and naive. So this one didn't bug me, he seemed to be playing the part as I have always known it.
And Raoul can be a tenor or a baritone. It's not set like the Phantom (which I hear they're changing???). He was a baritone in the original recording as well.
And the DVD does come here til February.... *cries*

They had Michael Crawford there in the crowd and they still let that shrimpy little man sing. Grr on him says I!! Sorry for anyone that likes him. I just don't.

I mean considering they had such powerhouse singers before, JOJ, Karimloo, Carpenter...geh! WHY...

If he got Phantom I have more than a shot at playing the first female Phantom. I can sing those songs. I'm not very... er... girlishly shaped. I'm tall. It could work. It worked for Peter Pan.
