COOL *OOOO* May I suggest "How Raoul is tired to be considered a fop and wishes to become a man loved by everybody" Too long? Maybe as second title. But I though more of a story like "I'll pretend to be a nice Raoul and take my time with Christine, but secretly I'll do the Phantom Thimg on MY managers. HARHAR!"

I really did not like the idea of a sequel, ever since I read Phantom of Manhattan back in 2001. That novel didn't seem to be about the original characters so much as an (underdeveloped) appreciation for the time period and the setting. And I love the time period and setting. New York in the late 19th-early 20th century is fascinating. And would make an interesting backdrop for a Phantom sequel. It doesn't have to be all hot dogs and circus clowns, either. Coney Island is cool and it seems a reasonable choice for the Phantom to enjoy some success by capitalizing on his own skills and experience building amusements for the Persian court. But there's so much more they could have done with the setting in the musical, and they didn't get out of Coney Island. That's...lame. But all in all, I felt a sequel, or the one they had come up with, wasn't necessary. It could be a fun diversion, but it wouldn't validate or expand upon the original in any real useful way. I have always been a fan of Webber's music and I knew I'd love his score. And it's no secret that I'm a big Ramin Karimloo fan. (yes, yes, I know.) But the original London version isn't even first draft material. I've seen footage and it does not look or sound finished. I did see the Australian recording and it looked marvelous, I have to say. I accept it as the finalized version of Love Never Dies. And even though I may pop in the DVD from time to time if I'm bored, the story itself lacks integrity. If I could change it, I would: -Scrap the Gustave thing. If at all possible, just scrap the whole baby daddy plot point. -Don't re-write and mistreat Raoul's character so much (and furthermore, STOP toying with the original Phantom to make Raoul's original character comply with his sequel character, you shady rat bast...ahem) -I do love Meg in the Australian version, much more than the London version. But it is just silly to have Giry uproot her life and drag her daughter down with her just for the Phantom's sake. Phantom and Giry have NO relationship in the original. She sees him at a freak show and then recognizes that it's him haunting her employers. She delivers notes on the Phantom's behalf. While there is a mystery there between Phantom and Giry, it's not enough to fill the gap in logic between how you get Giry in the original moving across the Atlantic and literally pimping out her own daughter. Does. Not. Compute. -The only reason Meg is there at all is to kidnap Gustave and shoot Christine. If these things are necessary to the storyline, create a new character. Because..."Give me the gun, Meg" is nothing short of ridiculous, no matter how good the actors are. -The Phantom should have died. Not Christine. Think about it. When reading PoM, it felt that Christine died simply because Forsythe didn't know what else to do and wanted the story to end. Ideally, no one should have to die to conclude the sequel. But it would be more fitting for the Phantom's story to come to an end than for him to suddenly not be insane anymore and be responsible for his bastard son after he threatened to kidnap him in act one. Doesn't sit right. And there you have it I don't foam at the mouth and fly into a rage at the mere mention of LND like some phans. I do have it on my iPod and I have pre-ordered the DVD. I'm a completist, what can I say. I think the Australian version is as improved as we will ever see this project. But in my opinion, they could have gone a lot farther in editing (re-hauling, more like) the story.
